Community Health Worker Billing Tools

In 2025 and 2026, the Minnesota Department of Health and CHW Solutions developed a CHW Billing Toolkit in response to barriers identified by CHWs and CHW service organizations. The toolkit features workflows, checklists, tip sheets, a financial modeling tool, and other resources to help health care, local public health, tribal health and community based organizations access Medicaid and Medicare CHW reimbursement.

Food as Medicine Topic: Sunflower Seeds

Seeds play a crucial role in our diet because they provide a concentrated nutrient source that supports overall health and well-being. One of the healthiest seeds are from the sunflower plant. Sunflower seeds are widely considered the most popular snacking seed in America, with roughly 90% of the population consuming them. Our neighbor North Dakota is the U.S. leader in sunflower cultivation, boasting an impressive output of 1.1 billion pounds each year. Following closely behind is South Dakota, contributing significantly to growing the seeds. These Great Plains states capitalize on their expansive lands and favorable growing conditions to drive the nation’s sunflower supply.

Attended the International Refugee and Migration Health Conference

Three of our team members, including our CHW Service Director Ashley and our Senior CHWs Sayed and Hawo, had the opportunity to attend the International Refugee and Migration Health Conference hosted by Society of Refugee Healthcare Providers in Nova Scotia from June 26 to 30, 2025.
